Christ is risen, but the conscripted soldier isn’t
The work can be seen at Kalitnikovskoye Cemetery in Moscow, at the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow”.
It has no physical original: the phrase was never painted on the wall and exists only as an AR layer installed on the facade of the cemetery church.
“Christ is risen” is the traditional Easter greeting meaning that Jesus Christ has come back to life after death.
“Conscript” (srochnik) is a soldier sent to war without choice or consent, often without any public recognition of his death.
